About Us:

Lauren D. LaPorta, MD,DFAPA  is the Chairman
of Psychiatry at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center,
Paterson, NJ.  She holds Board Certifications in
General Psychiatry and Psychosomatic Medicine and a
Masters in Health Care Administration.  She received
her medical degree from the University of Medicine and
Dentistry of New Jersey/New Jersey Medical School
(UMDNJ/NJMS) and completed her residency training
in psychiatry at the University of Florida, Gainesville.  
She is a Distinguished Fellow in the American
Psychiatric Association.  The Consumers’ Research
Council of America has honored her with repeat
recognition as one of America’s Top Psychiatrists.
Dr. LaPorta has academic appointments at Seton Hall
University, Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, The
University of Medicine and Dentistry of New
Jersey/New Jersey Medical School, The University of
Florida, and St. George’s University School of
Medicine. She has served as an examiner for the
American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She has
written many peer reviewed articles, essays and poetry
that have been published in professional journals for
which she has also served as a reviewer.  She is a
regular contributor to “New Jersey Psychiatrist”, the
award-winning newsletter of the New Jersey
Psychiatric Association where her wry and witty
observations on professional life and learning are a
popular feature.

With more than 20 years experience in the field, she
brings a unique view to the issues of stress and its
effects on the health and well-being of America.
